Choices and Options?

I am often frustrated with the amount of choices and options in the world. Please do not get me wrong, I am not saying that these are always bad things to have. When I shop at the grocery store it is very important that I have in my hand a list of the specific items needed. Without a list, I will find myself wandering and wondering which brand is best for me. Searching and contemplating, trying to avoid being another victim of “buyers remorse.”

Many of us are blessed and spoiled with the amount of options and choices that we have in this world, especially in this country. Whether it is a car lot,  buffy restaurant,  shoe store or an airline, we are free to make any decisions that best meet our needs. But the more options there are to choose from, the better chance we have of choosing wrong. This fact can be costly and or dangerous with consequences effecting our wallet or our health!

Does this include the long list of churches and religions? Yes it does! It would take the rest of my life to list all of the religious groups on the market right now. And we all have the freedom to pick and choose what we think is right for us. This fact can be costly and or dangerous with consequences effecting our soul salvation!

It is true that God has given us the free will to make many choices. However, when it comes to our soul being freed from sin and eternal damnation, He has given us one choice. This choice is His only Son Jesus Christ. There is nothing else on the market that has died on the cross for our sins, guaranteeing us that we will rise from the dead and go to Heaven  just like He did.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

When it comes to our soul salvation, the world will offer us many choices and options, but the bible tells us that Jesus is the only good choice. We cannot choose just anything on the shelf, for doing that could bring eternal remorse.

Some people feel that living a Christian life is boring! That it will not allow you any freedom to do what you want to do! Many people have even said that this type of lifestyle is unrealistic and out of touch with today’s world!

But have you realized that there is not one New Testament commandment that will bring a negative result? The truth is that God has not instructed us to do anything that will hurt our mind, body or soul. God’s commandments are made to help us stay clean and out of trouble. But, the result of disobeying God and indulging in sin will always bring a negative result. Let us notice some examples from some of the sins listed in Galatians 5:19-21:

     The Act                                          It’s Result

Drunkenness                                   Psoriasis of the Liver

Stealing                                           Imprisonment

Adultery                                          Broken Families

Fornication                                     S.T.D’s/ Unwanted Pregnancy

Uncontrolled Anger                      Regretful Actions

Lying                                               Loss of Trustworthiness

The list goes on and on…

Galatians 6:7-8 (NASB)

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Do you remember the last time you had a very special person visit your home?

Perhaps a loved one who was traveling hundreds of miles just to see you?

Maybe it was your mother or father, brother or sister, friend or significant other?

Take a moment to reminiscence on your favorite moment… Who do you have in mind?

Do you remember how exited you were? How about the anticipation you felt building as you imagined that person finally stepping inside your door? In times like these, I have spent hours preparing, cleaning, and making sure everything in my house was in order for that individual.  Let’s hold this thought for a moment.

So many people have dreams of finally making it to Heaven. Being one of those people myself, get excited just trying to visualize what it will be like, who I will see and how I will feel! I envision myself in a state of complete joy along with everyone else who has made it with me! What a celebration it will be!

Have you ever wondered how special this time will be for Jesus?  He is the one who invited us.  How long has He been waiting and anticipating our appearance to His glorious home in Heaven?  Does He imagine us finally walking into the pearly gates after we have traveled many long years?

Before Jesus left His disciples to go back to Heaven, He gave them some encouraging words saying, “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.” – John 14 :2

Jesus has spent time preparing for His disciples a place of comfort and rest.  He has made sure everything is perfect for the arrival of His special loved ones. Knowing how much He loves us, can you imagine His anticipation? The love that Christ has for us is greater than we will ever understand, until we at last see Him. – Let God Be True.

Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

God’s Perfect Creation

Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

It is amazing how much good this fruit can do for a person!

The orange is filled with nutrients such as vitamin C and powerful antioxidants.

These vitamins and minerals are known to strengthen and cure the body of disease.

Did God know how helpful this orange would be for us when He made it centuries ago?

Or was it just a coincidence?

Man can make a lot of things, but we cannot supercede God’s own natural fruit.

It is amazing how much good God’s Holy Word can do for a person.

The bible is filled with the truth and nothing but the truth.

These truthful words are known to strengthen and cure the spirit of man from sin.

Did God know how helpful His Word would be for us when He spoke it centuries ago?

Or was it just a coincidence?

Man can speak a lot of things, but we cannot supercede God’s own word.

He knows what is best for us. He knows what we need. He is the one that made us.

Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

How Do We Measure Love?

How do you know she really loves you?

How do you know he really loves you?

Do these questions sound familiar?

This Valentine’s Day I will once again search for a better way to confirm my love for my wonderful wife. This is not always easy, for I often struggle to find the words and actions that would best express the depths of my love for her.

As I grow older, I realize that true love is measured by sacrifice. So I ask myself, “How much am I willing to sacrifice for my wife? The willingness to sacrifice for another is one way to measure love.

This is how we know God truly loves us. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to receive punishment for our sins (John 3:16). He has made this sacrifice out of pure and perfect love for us! God is holy (Leviticus 19:2). Therefore, it is in His nature to punish sin. But, by offering up His only Son, God has made a way for us to avoid His wrath toward sin.

Romans 5:8-9 reads: “8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”

If you have not allowed the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to take away your sins, please understand that He is waiting for you to do so. Out of love, God sacrificed His Son so that He would not have to punish you or anyone else in this world (2 Peter 3:9). Wow! That is true love!

How can we show God we love Him? We must repent of our sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38). In doing this, not only will we be taking advantage of God’s love, but we will also show God that we love Him. Let God Be True.

“What is wrong with this world?”

“Why are there so many bad things taking place?”

“Why did God make it like this?”

These questions are being asked daily by many puzzled souls.

After God created the Heavens and the Earth, He recognized the finished product as “very good” (Genesis 1:31). In other words, what God created was a marvelous masterpiece! God’s creation was perfect and without blemish. Sin had not yet crept into the world. But when Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s commandment, sin made its way into the world and robbed it of its purity. Consequently, the masterpiece that was once “very good” was on its way to being, what many consider today as “very bad”.

Is this God’s fault? Did He make this mess? Was it His main plan to bring human life into a world full of pain and confusion? Absolutely not! The bible states that God is perfect (Matthew 5:48), therefore He has never created anything sinful, evil, or confusing. However, God has blessed man with responsibility as stewards charged to manage His handiwork (Gen. 1:28-30). He has also given man instructions on how to do His work correctly. However, our free will and selfish tendencies cause us to do otherwise (Gen. 3).

This is not God’s fault! God has given us a wonderful room to play in, but we often refuse to follow His rules, to put our toys away, and to clean up the mess that we have made! As a result, we are stuck playing in our own mess. This is our fault and we are reaping what we have sowed (Galatians 6:7, 8)! Everyone who has ever sinned has contributed to the problems of this world in some way or another (Romans 3:23).

Psalm 119:9 records a good question asked by King David. He asks, “How can a young man keep his way pure? He answers his own question with the following words: “By living according to your Word”. Today we are faced with a similar question. How can the world regain its goodness? The answer remains the same. We must live according to the Word of God.

As a human race we must follow God’s New Testament commandments and live according to His Word. Or else, we will continue to blemish God’s marvelous creation, all the while wondering “What is this world coming to?” Let God be true!
